I feel your pain. I was in the same position years ago and the uncertainty sucked. You don't know if it's just going to turn into a mature hairline, if you're losing hair from stress or if it will manifest in a classic baldness pattern. We post pictures and have people guess as to whether it's actually male pattern baldness and you know what, that exercise actually has some merit. We have some excellent vets around here who have seen lots and lots of hair lines, but I wonder if we're a little to early to start suggesting life-long treatment options. And dermatologists do the same thing, they look at pictures over long time periods and maybe do a little poking and prodding. It's a stupidly in-exact science.
So for the longest time I thought I'd eventually be able to find a cure for baldness, because most that's what most of us baldees are looking for on this forum (well and to vent and share hilarious hairloss stories). But that's not in the cards for me anymore, but I do believe at some point someone or a team will figure this out. In the meantime there is something I can give back. There's been some excellent studies out recently for predicting male pattern baldness, although they're for forensic uses. I think it would be possible to use these for a genetic prediction algorithm, and I have the ability to get this data and analyze it. I just need to know if there's a need in this community. So if you could help a brother out and fill out this survey it would be much appreciated and let's see if we can save some hairlines by figuring this **** out as early as possible.
