To cut my thick hair while treating

Hey guys,
I'm currently bolding at the crown and slightly in the front, and I have just begun using
- Proscar
- Rogaine foam 5%
- Nizoral Shampoo 2%

My hair is very thick, semi-afro. And I currently have too much hair in the front, is it recommended that I cut it shorter while doing the treatment, as at times its hard for the rogaine foam to penetrate the scalp effectively. But the thing is, I usually use my frontal hair to comb back and thus cover the balding crown. Does treatment work better overall with shorter hair or doesn't it make any difference?
Thanks
Mark

I think it works better with shorter hair in my opinion. You'll waste a lot less if you kept it short.
