Timing hairloss

I wish I would have gotten on finasteride sooner to save more hair but thats in the past. I now am considering minoxidil is some form or another. I know if I wait ill wish I would have used it. I am going on a cruise next month and dont want my hair to be in worse shape if minoxidil causes a shed. Is there a general rule for when min makes one shed? Lets just say I use a 5%.

I don't think there is anyway of telling since everyone's results are so different. I've
never shed from finasteride or min.
