I've been on finasteride and nizoral E.O.D since December 2008. - 0.35mg.
In February 2009 I also added 5% spironolactone cream.

In March I came off finasteride for a month.

So I've been using this combo for around 7 months, and in this time, although hardly noticeable my temples have continued to thin further.

Is it time to add something else (If so, what?) Or should I give it more time and hope I can still maintain what I have with my current regime? (Which wouldn't be a bad thing, I still have what appears to be a decent head of hair).

Opinions would be much appreciated.

I would say abslulty NOT

Probably am going to sound harsh here but I think you've done an awful job with your regime, the best way would be to choose what you're going to use and stick with it for at least 12, maybe 18 months.

But what you've done is add new things half way through, STOP finasteride half way through for a month which can be disastrous and a huge back step, and now you want to add something else (!?).

This way you have no idea what actually IS working and as mentioned before can have done damage to any progress by knocking finasteride off, read through some user experiences and you'll see quite a few major fucks ups from dropping the finasteride.

I'd say now start from the date you restarted finasteride and try your best to get on with things for a good year, take photos and evaluate at that time.

I started finasteride in December 2008 also. And so far have minor improvements, many examples on this forum of seeing not regrowth (when it does occur) until after the 12 month mark, so theres something to aim for.

Wish you well anyway

Thanks for the reply.

I have to say, I didn't just get off finasteride for the sake of it, I was concerned I was experiencing sides (Hence why I'm only taking 0.35mg).

I added the Sprio because I wanted to compensate for this, knowing I wouldn't be taking finasteride for a month.

-So you think it's best for me to stick with what I'm doing for at least another 6 months or so?

p.s. To clear something up, when I said add something else I don't mean quitting anything I'm doing at the moment...that would be silly.

temple hairloss would have resulted anyway, even if you were using finasteride. I would suggest you add minoxidil into your regime to try and get the hairline growing again. Once terminal miniaturization kicks in, minoxidil does not usually work either.

If you are really worried about finasteride, you should try alternative medicine like saw palmetto [not guaranteed to work].
