Been in these forum for about three years. Had a rough Telogen Effluvium 5 months after start thyroid medication. That loss accelerated or uncovered my maturing and male pattern baldness.

I’m still on thyroid medication, I shed like crazy and my hair is much different than before thyroid was an issue.

Is it known that thyroid medication causes changes, thinning to hair, independently or combine with the miniaturization process?

I’m hitting my 9th month on .50 Topical Finasteride 4ml daily with .25 oral Propecia MWF and I’ve noticed zero change in shedding or regrowth. Sides are more management than 1mg and .5mg daily. Labs and serum DHT remain the same at the very low end of normal. Temples took a big hit after month one. Diffuse and solid baseline but density is a fraction of what it was three years ago.

Don’t take this the wrong way but from what I remember of the pictures you posted your hair looks absolutely fine. You’re like what NW0.5?
And it’s not like you’re not doing anything about it. Have you ever considered duta?

Hairline still decent I’d say a 1. But my sheds are insane, constant and in just a few years density is gone. Still lucky and fighting but trying to figure out the thyroid meds and Hashimotos connection.

From what I read you should regrow hair once you sort out the thyroid problem but you’ll never be able to get back to the same density and texture as before. For you it’s been 3 years already so I don’t know. What does your doctor say?
I’m going to get my thyroid checked as well since my hair thinned out suddenly and all over(sides and back included).
Funny that my hair is at its thickest at the top.

If you are diagnosed with a thyroid toxicoses gland, your GP will refer you to a specialist in hormonal conditions (endocrinologist) to plan your treatment. If you want to do your own research, just check out Canadian Pharmacy website. It covers many health related topics.

One of possible factors in hairloss is Thyroid abnormalmalities, for men & women.
One can buy T4, T3 peptides to supplement.
I’m not an expert, but for average person we can assume, a sluggish thyroid may contribute to hair loss. Usually thyroid deficiencies are a woman’s issue due to stress, childbirth, improper diet. Doctors supplement to bring numbers up. Ofcourse there are those with too high numbers.
For myself I have T3 & T4 as a health supplement. If you notice your eyebrows are thinning, it’s usually sign of sluggish thyroid.
I have this. So my eyebrows are now thickening back. Ideally your doctor is the expert
