ThymuSkin is a hair loss treatment program that takes a different approach to preventing hair loss. Originally developed to help cancer patients regrow hair lost during chemotherapy, ThymuSkin uses a thymus based formulation to combat hair loss. While many hair loss treatments simply try to stop the production of DHT, ThymuSkin approaches the problem of hair loss as an immune system disorder. ThymuSkin was originally developed as a way to stop hair loss for cancer patients who were undergoing chemotherapy. A group of physicians performed placebo controlled, double-blind studies on the effects of this product on hair loss in cancer patients. When the product was rubbed on the patient's scalp before he/she took a chemotherapeutic agent, there was no hair fallout -- hair loss was kept at a minimum.. The German GMP subsequently declared the product to be a preventative measure for hair fallout for chemotherapy patients. However, it was soon discovered by the research physicians that ThymuSkin was very effective against rare types of hair loss and scalp disorders. So it was declared a treatment for the regrowth of hair. It has been proven to be effective for men 67% of the time, and for women 95% of the time who still have live hair follicles.

sounds like it's something more for chemo patients and not men with male pattern baldness.

i used it a number of years ago.....load of bollocks if you ask me...try something else..minoxidil, finasteride, revivogen, spironolactone, fluridil....something along those lines

If it works at all, it would primarily be for those with Alopecia Areata or other immune related hair loss conditions. It is not beneficial for those with Androgenetic Alopecia. Even then, I would challenge the validity of it until I saw some published data on it done by an independent testing facility. Thymuskin is one of those companies that puts a *ton* (and i mean a ton) of money into marketing. They also make claims about it that I do not believe they can back.

I attended an alopecia support group meeting here in san diego awhile back and a thymuskin sales rep showed up. He had a fake tan, sunglasses on (it was at night) a silk shirt, unbuttoned midway down his chest, showing his gold chains and hairy body, shiney black shoes, and did his sales pitch. His appearance alone freaked me out enough to doubt his message.

The sad part is the ladies that were attending were sad, and desperate for solutions, so they did not consider it funny. I was glad they gave him a healthy dose of skepticism, but as most salesmen do, he let it roll off his back and made his pitch. It was an awkward, uncomfortable, embarrasing moment.

Especially when during his schpeel he began criticizing online hair loss communities like "HairlossTalk" (the site I run) saying it has done a disservice to consumers by always promoting "Clinically Proven" (he said sarcastically) treatments all the time. The lady who runs the support group knew who I was and what site I run and actually stopped him mid sentence, interrupting him. It was ... very revealing.

My only other experience with Thymuskin is attending the International Society if Hair Restoration Surgery conference in Chicago a couple years back. One of the leaders of the conference, a solid thinker and researcher in the world of hair loss, began his speech with this sentence, and i quote: "In an industry filled with snake oils like Thymuskin, we as educators have a difficult road ahead of us to inform the public on how to avoid products that have no scientific backing".

There was a study by Dr. Marty Sawaya, one of the only other researchers in the industry that i really trust, and she discussed the possibilities of Thymuskin in a paper. We have it on the HairlossTalk web site. I will paste it in here:
