Three Months On finasteride, Sharing My Experience

Hi guys!

I have started using finasteride approximately two weeks ago and would like to share my feelings about it. I am taking 1/4 of Proscar pill every night.

First of, what everyone here is afraid of - my dick didn't fall off. I have noticed some changes in libido, yet I can't tell if its lower or higher just different.
I also experienced light dizziness in first days, but it seem to have gone or I got used to it. Erection seems to be the same or a little weaker. Surprisingly, the amount of sperm seems to be more than before yet it is more fluid.

Also, I have noticed that I have started urinating more often in the evening but cant connect it solely to taking finasteride.

Last but not least, the hair - I guess two weeks is a short period of time for changes to become noticeable but my hair seems a little bit stronger and fuller than before. However I still see it shedding while washing my head with shampoo.

I am planning to add Regenpure or Lipogaine shampoo to my routine soon. Have experience of using Lipogaine before and I think it is benefiting my hair somehow.

Hope someone will find this info useful. A question to the experienced members, am I doing it right? Is there any obvious way to enhance my treatment?

Peace!

I don't get how people can state that their hair is fuller after just 2 weeks. I mean come on, how much can it grow in 2 weeks? I think everything you notice about finasteride during the first 2 weeks, is all in your head. I too felt 'strange' the first few days, but in hindsight that was just me being worried and excited about this 'dangerous' pill.

You could try minoxidil aswell, I heard that tends to work good on some people. Good luck :)

Thanks, bro. About hair getting thicker in two weeks maybe its just wishful thinking, yet it can be due to other reasons than finasteride - I have moved to another climate zone and have diet changes which can influence as well.

On the less optimistic note, today in the shower I have noticed more shedding than before - moving my hand throw my hair results it 2-3 hairs being left in it. Got a little worried about that. How much of a bad sign could it be? Does finasteride take synchronizing as minoxidil? Or is it just hair growth cycle changing? Anyways I haven't been shedding like this in a long time.

People tend to say it's normal when starting a new treatment. Only time will tell. I was shedding before I took my first pill, and now I'm shedding even harder 2 months in. To give you an idea, that's 130 hairs when I comb my hair on the top of my head in the morning. :p I shouldn't be too worried about 2-3 hairs coming out. There's also nothing much you can do at this point. You can worry about it working or not, but as I said before, only time will tell. Live your life, don't let hairloss consume you. :)

2suun, are you still shedding? I am 1,5 month on finasteride and still shedding. Weirdly, both long and short hairs are falling off as well as some body hair

When I started finasteride I began to notice 2-3 hairs on my hand after running it through my hair as well.

Dunno if it was a new thing or I just never paid enough attention before ...

Whats up guys,

I'd like to share un update on my experience with finasteride and hairloss overall.

So I did finasteride for 3-4 months and had to stop it due to side effects I have started noticing like - fewer and more fluid semen, decrease in libido and emotional instability. I did not experience any visible progress.

I was taking proscar pills which I cut in 4 pieces - and due to the shape of the original pill the cut pieces were uneven. I was taking a piece every night before I went to sleep. I was also taking diazepam during the last month of the treatment and not sure if it could mess up my experience.

I didn't notice any changes in my balding process after cancelling finasteride. The side effects seem to have gone away.

At the moment my regimen is Rogaine 5% once a day at night, Pantogar vitamins and Lipogaine shampoo.

While I follow this regimen and maintain a healthy lifestyle (don't abuse alcohol or cigarettes etc) I believe my hair looks a bit better. If go on drinking for 3-4 days my hair condition gets visually worse.

I was wondering if someone could give me advice about my case - which steps should I take now and which treatment are worth trying.
Also would like to read some reliable researches about finasteride, minoxidil and other major treatments, so if anyone knows the good ones please let me know.

Thanks!

What treatments are worth trying? The big 3 we have been preaching for the last 25 years. So in short get back on the finasteride if you value your hair or wait for something better because that it is all there is.
minoxidil is very cheap so no reason not to be on that, and propecia is the most important thing if you can manage the sides.

I've been using minoxidil for almost six months and there was always no or little shedding. I have added finasteride again for three weeks this July and experienced massive shedding and thinning on the second-third week. I have experiences testicular and nipple pain in first ten days or so. I have stopped finasteride and shedding seemed to slow down. But it is still far more than it used to be when I was on minoxidil only.

What I first thought has happened that I was having old weak hairs falling out that would later regrow and be stronger. Than I have noticed that my scalp is super oily and went searching these symptoms. Seems that this combination (early shedding and oily scalp) indicates that finasteride won't be working for me and make more damage than good. It is the case when your body has allergic reaction to the drug and produces far more testosterone than it used to.

Now after two weeks without finasteride my scalp skin is back to normal. Yet still some shedding on head hair and even on body hair - if i try to pull out my chest hair or eyebrows, one or two hairs will fall out easily. Any ideas about my case? Am I wrong with my assumptions?

Maybe your hair is less oily, so you feel your hair is thicker?

it's an old post - my hair got better first (as I thought), then worse (due to shedding), then better again (I guess it recovered), then worse again (shedding since I have started taking finasteride second time).

I have started new thread on topic of early shedding and oily scalp specifically
