Hello. 31yo male here. I began noticing slight balding/thinning in my crown around age 23-24 (approx 6'ish years ago).
Around age 25, I began to take a proactive approach, and started using Rogaine. During that time, it initially thickened up my crown, but over the next 4-5 years, it was continuing to gradually thin again (however, there is no doubt that the Rogaine has helped slow my hairloss...without it, I don't want to know where I'd be).
So, about two years ago I began taking 1mg of finasteride daily along with the continuation of Rogaine. Again, this seemed to slow things down for a little bit, but my balding has still gotten very slowly, progressively worse. In other words the two together are slowing it way-way down, but still not completely stopping it.
I was thinking about changing from 1mg of finasteride, to .5mg of dutasteride (I've heard that it stops both types of DHT). Has anyone had any success with this, and does anyone recommend it? Or should I stick with what I have going...and that's the best I'll do...
Also, I also have not begun using Nizoral yet, and was thinking about adding it to my regimen. Should I maybe add Nizoral with the Rogaine and finasteride, before I switch over to dutasteride?
I'm kind of getting close to "maxing out" my treatments. There are still transplant options, and possible future technology (cloning, etc)... but I'd like to hold on to my hair as long as I can, and use those as a very last resort.
Again, there's no doubt my current treatments to date have helped a lot, but they're not completely stopping it. So, any thoughts, opinions, and recommendations on next steps would be greatly appreciated.
