Thinning without recession? Health or Genetics?

First off, I'd like to preface this like everyone does, where I say that people say I will never go bald, blah blah blah. In my opinion, they just don't notice because my hair is dark.

I've been going through stressful situations and have had tons of anxiety the past year, and haven't been eating extremely healthy. My mother has had a thyroid problem in the past and has MS right now. I might even stretch to believe I have anemia, but I can't really say till I see a doctor.

Over the last year, I've noticed my hair went from ridiculously thick, to where you can see through on the right-ish side of the middle part to my scalp under light, and pretty much whenever I look at it. I've been under a lot of stress, literally for a year, and I have (tried to) make a doctor's appointment just to see if it was that. I've always had a giant forehead, and my father isn't bald, and I don't know if he was. On my mother's side, her father is mostly bald, and my uncle on that same side has receeded with the usual M pattern.

The thing that makes me worried is that the thinning has started on my frontal, and doesn't look consistent with the rest of the hairline. It's only really thinning in that one spot and seems to be getting worse the more I look at it. I can no longer part my hair there, because you can see right through! I've been taking B12s for the past 2 weeks and sometimes it looks fine, sometimes it doesn't. I also don't have the familiar M shape that comes with most male pattern baldness, which confuses me, because had it been genetic, you would think I would bald just the same.

My question really is: should I go on Finasteride/start treatment, or am I just adding even MORE stress thinking about this?

The thing that makes me doubt that it's stress is that I wouldn't think stress thinning would last an entire year. I should probably add that the hairs are all still there, and are getting more brittle and thin in diameter, with no real increase of hair on my pillow/in the shower/etc. I realize that this could be male pattern baldness and I'm willing to accept this, but I want some opinions first, if you all could help. Here's a picture. Yes, it's a mohawk, and the hair is very very short in the non-hawk places so just ignore that, but just look at the area I focus on. I've slightly parted it to demonstrate what it looks like. It might have gotten worse since this picture, I'm not sure.

Over the passed year you've been doing a lot sitting to finish you studies or you're on a new job where you do a lot of sitting. Yes?

Yes, I have been sitting a lot and not really been outside. I don't think this would be the entire underlying cause though.

I think I should also mention that some of my body hair is thinning as well.

I just hope if I'm balding, it isn't that awkward thinning down the center with no other balding whatsoever.

Anyone else have any ideas/advice?

Thanks for replying. I'm on Rogaine for my scalp while collecting data for my personal research. It's called sedentary lifestyle.

I was hoping if you can tell me there was a recent change that requires you to think a lot within the past year.

I mean, I have always been thinking literally about everything. I have an overactive brain that constantly bombards me with paranoia, and unwanted stress, etc.

I see. I'm trying to confirm the claims about sedentary lifestyle in this book by collecting data. It says physical exercises does not get one off the list of sedentary individuals. It has a strict set of rules to follow that's driving me crazy just to keep my hair.

It recommends only Rogaine plus the instructions of about 30 pages that's suppose to make Rogaine more effective.
