Been thinning on the scalp for about 10 years now. My hairline has not moved and I used to have the thickest brown hair before I turned 13 and I guess my hormones took over. I knew this day would come. I dont even leave the house anymore. Sunlight scares me. People scare me. I can't step a foot outside without a hat and not feel a panic attack coming. Im willing to pay any amount of money for a solution but I don't think there is one. My pattern is so weird.why god why

Actually, you could try the Big 3 regimen that is very popular here, and is the best thing now to fight hairloss, and works very well for many people.

It consists of 3 things:

- Finasteride (Propecia)
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral Shampoo)
- Minoxidil (Rogaine)

However, you should read and be informed about possible risks before you start it.

You seem to be heading towards NW4A - NW5A on a Norwood scale. Are there any members in your family that are bald?

Both grandfathers have full hair

Dad has a receding hairline since like 30 but strong crown so he looks ok

I'm trying rogaine and nizoral but not finasteride. But honestly I can't even concentrate on anything. At 30 fine but not now.

Then you should strongly consider Finasteride. Rogaine and nizoral alone will most likely not hold your hair for very long.

hey man! my advice would be use Nizoral 2% EVERYDAY, use minoxidil, alot of it (if you get no sides), and also shave your head. YOu have a great hairline like you said, so a shaven head would look great on ya man. will also take your mind off how your hair looks :)

Agree with others on using the big three, or at least finasteride and nizoral. You're lucky in that you still have a great hairline and coverage, so you should respond to treatments well. Side effects are pretty uncommon and sometimes in the mind, talk to a doctor if you're worried, otherwise I'd suggest just going for it.

I was also thinking a buzz (maybe a 4), or a very short cut, would look good and take the emphasis off the thinner area. Would also help if you shed a bit - don't fear that, it's a good sign.

Get onto finasteride/Rogaine and Nizoral as mentioned, will probably do you wonders aslong as you don't get sides. Also, someone said buzz it down to a grade 4 but from the pictures it already looks around that length if not just abit longer so probably best to buzz it down to like a 1 or 2 and it will look good due to the intact hairline and will hide the contrast between the thin and thick areas.

Good luck bro!

No one has asked about it starting at 13? Surely if it truly did start at 13 it can't be male pattern baldness? But some other form of alopecia?

Just curious but I thought the earliest male pattern baldness could kick in was 18

I noticed hair loss at 16, so no, it can certainly start before 18.

OP, you have somewhat aggressive loss for your age. However, you have enough hair left that I bet treatments would give you great results for a few years. Obviously taking finasteride is a hard decision given the potential side effects, but if you choose to take it, it could really help. At the very least use minoxidil and nizoral. Also I would buzz it as others have suggested, but I would buzz down to a 0 until you saw some improvement in densiy. Alternatively, you could use some toppik for now, would work wonders with that type of loss.

I've never heard of anyone having it at 13. The youngest is 15. Maybe it could be related to something else and not male pattern baldness?

Start the treatments and get on Couvre and Toppik or the like....you have much more hair than I have and you can get to almost full look density with these products....trust me, I go 100% of the scalp daily with these.

FYI male pattern baldness can begin anywhere between ages 12 and 40. What comes op's situation your hairline looks great and as other has suggested big 3, that would be my advice also. You will probably get a normal looking hair once you just gain some density. What comes to sides, you can't know will you get them if you don't try. So far I've been blessed 10 days on big 3 without any sides. Wish you best of luck mate!

someone posted a picture here a while ago of some 16 year old kid taken on his 16th birthday - and this guy was a solid NW7 with a grown out horseshoe, so it must have started while he was still 14. i didn't believe it until I saw that pic as in my school which goes up to age 18, every single student there was NW1, NW1.5 at the most.
