Technical question: Thinning of hair follicles are caused only by male pattern baldness and not other types of hairloss (i.e. hypothyroid), true or false? So would it be safe to say that if you see your follicles thin it is most definitely male pattern baldness and not other forms of hairloss?
i think so. Just to be safe, also look at where the hair is thinning. is it on the temples or top or crown? it should be kind of uniform and symetrical. If it is patchy or thinng down on the sides or back near the neck, then it is not male pattern baldness. Also look for redness at the base of the hair. There should not be any. Redness could be alopecia aurta. I think thinning hairs does rule out most other hair loss types, but I'm not sure. the sad thing is some doctors don't even know.
