In the past few months I have noticed a thinning crown, but hairline intact with minimal recession, with shedding hair, but i believe it to be within the normal range but it has become more noticeable. However, i have primarily noticed a very itchy scalp at the crown. Any possible reasons?

Many users reported an itchy scalp as they were losing hair. The main cause seeming to be the excess sebum.

Could be anything, but if your losing hair its androgens. Androgens and hormones can be the cause of the increased sebum which could add to the itching.
If your losing hair treat it as male pattern baldness, and if its itching treat that as dandruff. male pattern baldness is male pattern baldness
