Thinking of switching to French lace / poly: questions

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on whether to switch. I'm currently wearing 0.03 poly but wanted to give French lace / poly sides a go.

1. How durable is it? On average I'll get 5 / 6 months out of my previous poly systems.

2. Do you find it easier to use tape around the side and glue for the front hairline?

3. Is the tape strong enough for say a 2 week hold?

1. A well-made lace unit should last from 3-4 months, and with care, 6 or longer.

2. That's quite a standard way to do it with an exposed hairline.

3. Depends on you, and the tape, but yes.

My first unit was a .8 poly and although I only had it for a week before my second one came (see below) this new one deffo feels far cooler, comfier and much more durable. Mind you, it is mono and not the lace you are thinking about and the back section feels more like galvanized rubber ha ha, but it's kind of similar to what you're after.

Can't say how durable mine is as I have only had it a week. However on the store page it says about 6 months. Don't they say a .3 unit lasts about 2/3 months normally? So if you manage to extend a .3 to 6 months then with a more durable unit like mine i'd imagine you'd be able to push it close to a year if you're careful. That said, it really comes down to how to treat it, how you style it etc.

I have mine taped round the side, a strip of tape across the middle too (the top section of the back rubber area) and glue at the front. With the cut out pattern on the main body of the unit, it would be far too annoying to try and glue it all down (whilst leaving the mono bits free to breathe).

Mine has been taped down a week and feels rock hard. gigitty. The poly unit I had felt like it moved around a bit more, but this thing feels proper stuck down.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I feel the same way regarding breathability with poly systems! That's why I wanted it change it. Just a few more questions...sorry!.

From the side are the poly edges detectable? Like can you see any outline? I'm wearing 0.03 so the transition at the sides is perfect in terms of not being able to see where it starts.

Do you normally get a good two weeks hold?

No worries at all and no unit will ever be visible from the side/back as long as it is placed correctly and the fake/bio hair is blended. As for hold, can't say as I got my first unit about 3 weeks ago and this second unit I have only had a week.
