Thinking about adding minoxidil.

Hello,
I am new to this forum. I am have been using propecia for almost 4 years and Nizoral 2%. However, over time I have noticed my frontal/center has thinned. I have considered minoxidil 5%, but have a few concerns. First, I will be using primarily in the front. I am conserned about the shedding phase and maybe turning out worse. Second, I work in the fitness industry and might have some trouble 2x daily. Is it still worth using once in the eventings?

the problem is more waiting for it to dry and what it looks like after with it on. for example.. some people wake up, have to apply it, and then go to work. it's a pain because no matter how you style it, it'll look like sh*t. i think they say you have to have it on 4 hours for it to completely absorb to your scalp. for people who don't work early in the morning, twice a day is fine.. but for others it's a pain. i only apply minoxidil at nights now.. and it has the same results as when i applyed it twice a day for a year and a half

You're not supposed to blow dry your hair after applying minoxidil are you? And if not, how long do you have to wait before you can?

some people blowdry their hair and say they've still had results... but i honestly in my opinion think that it evaporates if you do that. that's just me though. it says you should leave it on for 4 hours before washing your scalp.. it dries completely in like an hour or so..but they say to leave it on 4 hours for it to completely absorb to your scalp

adding minoxidil to propecia

It sound like some people have results once a day. I may have problems 2 x daily hopewas mentioned. Plus applying it and sweating within 30 mins. may create problems. I am also a little weary about starting minoxidil in conjunction with propecia because I have had some success with propecia. I believe if I hadn't started using it I would be worse off. I notice more frontal thinning and others usually don't. I quess I was just wondering if at 26years with decent hair density, (apart from the frontal thinning) that minoxidil maybe just once a day is the answer or not.

I think minoxidil once a day is your answer. It is said that you will have the same effect over time- using it 2 times a day in the beginning is necessary to see results faster, as hopewas was getting at.

I am thinning at the widows peak as well, and just started rogaine 2x a day. I want results fast!=) (also on propecia since sept 1).

I wonder about the sweating thing, though. They talk about DHT being prduced in the sebum glands of the scalp. Does working out and sweating produce more scalp dht, is my question. I lift weights after work, but don't sweat too too much, and shower right after. In my opinion, gotta keep the scalp clean, or at least not sweaty too long.

And yeah, in the morning I put on minoxidil, let it dry a bit, then style my hair with gel. It does look like sh*t! After a year of using it, I can't wait to switch to once a day. Good testimonial from hopewas on that topic.

Good luck.

for those who really have a problem applying it twice a day.. just apply it once when you can't apply it twice a day and twice on the days you can like holidays, days off, etc...that's what i do now.. when i don't have work, i apply it in the morning..after 4 hours ..i wash it, go out and apply it an hour before i go to sleep.. whatever way though, it's better than not being on it at all
