Hi all,
a few ppl (including myself) say that we have always had "thin" hair even throughout childhood - thin enough that some ppl thought that we were going bald even at ages when it could'nt have been true. But now i'm thinking differently - i've realized that my hair is "fine" , not "thin". If i'm not mistaken, "fine" refers to a small thickness of the individual hair shafts, and "thin" to a smaller than average number of hairs on the head (i.e low density) If the width of the parting is anything to go by to estimate density , my hair is very dense, even tho its fine. My parting is very narrow , narrower even than most guys who seem to have much "thicker" hair than me. I'd say only 3 out of every 100 guys have a parting as narrow as mine (one NARROWER than mine would not be possible for a human scalp!!! ) I'd say I have far more than the average 100000 hairs on my head - I would probably have around 140000! I have black hair by the way. So the actual "density" of hair is much less important than "diameter" of individual hairs and some other factors in contributing to the impression of "thick" hair. This makes sense, because in hair transplants, only a few thousand hairs are transplanted, but they can still give a full or nearly full appearance (almost as full as my hair which is WAAAAAAY denser)
Anyone else who has always had "thin" hair, what do u think?
Cheers,
Arjun
