the twins

identical twins suffer from hair loss.
they both have a 1 diameter bald spot.
one of them starts taking minoxidil and halts his hair loss progression, his bald spot stays at 1 diameter.
the hair loss progression of the other non-using twin continues and now has a 2 diameter bald spot.

now...

option 1:
the minoxidil using twin stops using minoxidil.
will he soon have a 2 diameter bald spot like his brother twin because his hair loss catches up to the same point as his brother twin ?
OR
will he have 3 diameter bald spot (bigger than his brother twin) because his hair became depended on minoxidil , even his thicker hair around that bald spot that did not require minoxidil, and now will be loosing hair more rapidly than his twin because of this ?

option 2:
the minoxidil using twin stops using minoxidil BUT starts using finersteride.
will he have a 2 diameter bald spot like his brother twin because his hair loss catches up
OR
will he maintain his better results (1 diameter bald spot) because now that he blocks DHT - there is nothing to progress his hair loss?

what will be your answer for option 1 and option 2 and why?

first scenario: option one

second scenario: don't understand the question....

Yes, for option 1, the research indicates that when you stop using minoxidil, your hair will look as it would if you never used it.

In all likelihood, the answer to number two is that he'll lose the minoxidil dependent hairs and grow finasteride dependent hairs. If it were true that finasteride could maintain minoxidil hairs, you wouldn't need to continue using minoxidil after starting finasteride. On the other hand, even though the two medications work differently, it's possible that finasteride would pick up where minoxidil left off and maintain those hairs, but you would still achieve better results using both. I know what you're asking, but I'm not sure anyone can answer it. No one knows how DHT causes hair loss or how minoxidil regrows hair.

"kc444" understood this question. his answer in a way explains the question:

if DHT only causes miniaturization of hair and you inhibit DHT so that you don't have DHT in your body anymore, what will cause the your hair loss to progress ?
If the answer to that is "nothing", than what will make the hair thickened by minoxidil to miniaturize again?

....

I think however no one really understood option 1 about creating a dependency of thick hair to minoxidil.

I asked it this way because I found a lot asking these two questions but very few understand these questions.

I would like to know what others have to say
