Killing off a strong terminal hair is not a good thing. This whole bullshit fairytale about "bu bu it got rid of the bad hair so the good can grow in" is a bullshit line so these leeches can keep you hooked on their products even after a year or more of knocking off your strong terminal hairs sending you into baldness.
The people who will get the best results are those who do little to no shedding at all.
The body only has a certain amount of hair cycles. Each terminal hair thinner than the last, and die off faster than the last, until they are barely visible miniaturized hairs that eventually stop growing... unless you don't have androgenic alopecia, which you do, which is why you are going on finasteride in the first place.
Some people lose a sh*t load of hair during the drug induced shedding phase because their hairs and not resistant to the hormonal fluctuations.
If your hair follicles are relatively resistant to Androgenic Alopecia despite having anrdogenic alopecia, you have a better chance of that hair coming back stronger. If you are a young man who is not resistant, the finasteride may knock out many hair cycles before your hormones stabilize leading to premature rapid miniaturization.
This is one of the primary mechanisms of why some get better results than others. Some hold on, and some bald faster.
I also want to point out that hair can maintain on these meds once you pass the initial shedding phase if you are a good responder, even if shedding hair. The reason for this is that your body no longer recognizes you have androgenic alopecia if your androgens are low enough, but you will lose many growth cycles consecutively if you drop the meds.
If you are well below baseline and shedding like a mother f****r after 6-8 months after starting these drugs, get the f*** off and cut your losses.
