The science behind dosage amounts of finasteride

I first prescribed to a study where serum DHT reduction was comparable for 1/4th pill as a 1mg pill.
Then I found another actual study where 1mg had the optimal gain of hair as opposed to smaller doses. Higher than 1mg did not increase haircount by much but lower doses did lower the haircount compared to the 1mg.
So I dont subscribe to the serum dht study as much as the actual hair study.
