“Chronic poor blood flow”. Just found out. I believe the theory to be true and it is certainly more complicated than it looks like.

We are talking about the root cause. Not external, temporary improvement through shampoos, sea water, corticosteroids or topical creams.

Discuss.

sources ?
when i checked for myself it was supposed to be a change in sebum composition that made a better environment for some fungus to grow , dont really remember it has been some time

Tell me more about this. I don’t have sources for mine, just different kinds of dermatitis occurring because of poor blood flow in legs and since the scalp suffers from poor blood flow...

Interesting.

From an anecdotal standpoint (and I know we briefly touched on this before) I put down ridding my SD from BJJ because of the sweat and constant scalp pressure. I largely put it down to sweat but can say that no other form of exercise was as effective at ridding the SD. By that logic the head pressure --> scalp pressure --> increased blood flow may well have helped more than I originally thought.

The only evidence of poor blood flow that I could report to date is in my hands during winter, where one would get extremely cold and the other stay warm.

What can we simply do to test this? The first thing that came into my mind is dermarolling. Are there reports of reduced seb derm when people begin dermarolling? (I haven't started this myself just yet).

I know people usually roll once a week with 1.5mm, maybe for people with seb derm they could test out rolling multiple times a week in the problem areas with a lesser needle length.

I thought of dermarolling too but couldn’t stand doing it on sides and back, the places where I have dermatitis. It amazes me that I have zero and I mean ZERO dermatitis on my entire galea whereas sides and back of my hairline are getting destroyed. It’s not diet. It’s not dairy. It can’t be cured with corticosteroids and shampoos. And my neck always is tight af, I tend to put pressure on it to hold in place because my abdomen area is a mess and can’t hold my core (and neck) properly.

Ehhh I disagree.. I have sd and have had it for a while. Whenever I take cialis or get aroused, my itch gets worse and worse in those areas.. and cialis/sexual arousal gets blood flowing. Also, sd has ALot to do with fungus. When my sd gets real bad I sometimes get athletes foot and other rashes near my armpits.

My hair loss started not long after hitting 15 and getting a very greasy scalp. These days whenever I eat high calorie carb/sugar diet the greasyness comes back hugely along with the horrible hair loss itch, whereas low carb or especially sugar gets rid of it all. It really does seem to be a fungal overgrowth and/or inflammation issue, stemming from the gut or wherever.

Have you tried probiotics? Sebum is undoubtedly a factor but I wonder what causes that overproduction.

The sebum feedback loop.

Which fits into the androgen-inflammation feedback loop.

Hi there - I had a lot of stress one year ago. With the stress, I was having more sugars, more alcohol and less exercise. I started losing lots and lots of hair and had itching and slight burning with it + dandruff. Dermatologist said SD. I am still losing hair and now it shows at the top of my scalp (I am a woman). I also started having really cold hands around the same time and feeling very cold. Maybe this is related? Anyway, my GP (PCP in US) said that I am also going into early menopause so we started Estrogen + Progesterone. My hair have become less brittle and thicker but the hair loss is constant... I am going to get scalp biopsy today. Let's see if it eliminates some causes or points to a cause... I probably have stress-induced hormonal imbalance and autoimmune (from gut imbalance)... what do you think?
