The Magic 3 - Success!

So I asked a billion questions about starting minoxidil in January / February. Thanks to everyone who responded.

The "net net" is that i've had good results, especially with the SLIGHT thining of my crown, and limited but some success along the hairline. Here's the history:

Started finasteride in about 1996, along with nism shampoo. Fell off the regimen a bit last year, but started finasteride again in November. I added minoxidil 5% in January, and also switched from Nism shampoo to American Crew, and use Nizoral once/twice a week.

I have seen considerable thickening of my actual hairs (that is, they "feel" and "look" thicker"), and the density on the crown of my head has substantially improved. I do not appear to be balding at all now on the top, whereas before it was getting "wispy".

While i have been applying the minoxidil to my front hairline as well, i can't say that i've seen much change. I still have the dreaded "V" hairline, but will continue to apply minoxidil to see what if anything changes.

So, at 34 years of age, i know that i would be bald if i hadn't taken these steps. I'm immensly thankful for everyone's advice and support, and am so glad that this place exists.

Keep it up!

Good to hear.

You switched to American Crew shampoo, is that Revitalise?

I have read several people useing/adding this product obtaining simular results:

I have seen considerable thickening of my actual hairs (that is, they "feel" and "look" thicker"),

I think there is a lot of benifit in cooper peptides, even in shampoos. I have been using Tricomin shampoo and conditioner over the last 6 weeks and have started to notice actual hairs improving, I also take Propecia and have been for several years.

My scalp feels so much better now no itching or pain, I feel this, my scalp health is contributing to the results I am seeing.

yes, it's the revitalize series of shampoos. I also use the spray, which i understand has quite a bit of copper peptides in it.

My first attack on my hair loss was with a shampoo made in canada called Nisim. It contains saw palmetto. I must admit that after about 5 months of use, my hair loss slowed considerably, perhaps even stopped. It was only a few months later that i began finasteride.

So, apparently shampoos can help, despite what others have experienced.
