Tell her!
My hairstylist knows I am on a regimen. And, before I got on it, this guy would give me so much sh*t about my thinning hair. Now, it was not anything really painful, but in the course of giving me a haircut he would say things like 'damn, you really had a shed' or 'your temples are getting kind of long'... I know this guy, and he doesn't mean anything bad with it, and we both had a good laugh over it. Before you go thinking that this guy is some a**h**, keep in mind that he reciprocates... this guy is kind of an older guy, he's 52, but tries to look 35. He has a really thick head of hair, but his hair is grey not only up top, but also his chest. This surprised me, but he told me he hides it by dyeing his hair, and, cough cough, he actually uses Just for Men gel on his CHEST HAIR!.. lol.. we both had a laugh at that.
My point is, don't take this sh*t so seriously. Sure, it is a problem, but everyone has problems and why let it get you down. Just be yourself and keep a smile.
Oh, and when I started my regimen I didn't tell a**h** at the salon. When I started getting some serious thickness in my center forehead area, he told me, 'damn, your hair is really thick!... you must be recovering from a shed?' I told him, 'dude, I am on Minoxidil, because I want you to stop giving me sh*t about it'. He said back to me, 'man, you are on THAT sh*t!? What are you thinking?'... and then we just laughed it off.
Stop trying to be perfect. Sure, we are fighting our hairloss, and making progress, but don't take it so deeply to heart. Keep some perspective!
I came into work once not knowing that my am minoxidil application had dripped onto my forehead a bit, leaving a white, powdery drip mark. Now, this is something I want to avoid completely, of course, but when a female coworker of mine who saw me first thing that morning told me I had a drip mark from my hair, I got a bit panicked... but, what the f***.. I just said, oh thanks for letting me know. She asked me, are you on Rogaine, and I said, 'Yes, I am!" She told me that she thought so, because her boyfriend uses it too. (Deep inside I was cracking up that her bf is struggling with the morning greasy mess that Rogaine causes, whereas I use Dr Lee)... but I just thanked her and went to the restroom and wiped it off. End of story.
People are at their best when they are comfortable being in their own skin, warts and all. Now, I am not saying that you should wear a t-shirt saying "I use Minoxidil" or anything like that, but what I am saying is that people admire other people who are comfortable with their weaknesses when confronted by them. Everyone on this planet has their own issues.
