The Generic finasteride called "Finasteride"

I went to my home doctor and finally was awarded a cheaper finasteride. I asked for Proscar but what she gave me was called "finasteride" (self named generic I guess). It comes in 5 mg a pill. Is anyone familiar with this particular finasteride? Is it effective? Is it the same thing as Propecia? I'm not trying to go backwards with my treatment here. Right now I'm taking .75 mg of Propecia, so I figured I would just try to split these tiny pills into eighths to get roughly the same amount.

Are you in the UK?

I think I use it, if it's what I use (Made in Germany) it's prescribed to patients with prostate problems on the NHS, and chemically identical to Proscar.

Nope I'm in the US. Yeah, it's primary use is for prostate problems. I really was hoping for Proscar, but this should be the same thing and it is probably going to cut my costs into nearly nothing so I'm pretty stoked.

Anyway, how is Finasteride? Has anyone here at least switched off of Propecia and went to Proscar or a generic Proscar?
