The effects of hair gel

I was wondering what the effects of hair gel were on my hair? Can this speed up hair loss or damage my hair a lot? I have to use a really really strong gel to get the type of style that I want. It makes my hair rock soild, but Ive got this feeling that its blocking my pores and damaging my hair! Is this possible? I'm sure this has been talked about 100x before, but for some reason I find that the search feature isn't bringing up relevant topics that Im looking for. Thanks for your help, you all have taught me a lot. -Steve

last time i checked the Gotti boys still have full heads of hair. Does that answer your question about using gel and going bald?

The gotti boys will probably go bald one day... I wouldn't be surprised and i'm not saying that because of the hairgel.

Yeah i believe not. However i reckon if your using wax and ripping at your hair you could lose more hair, but not as a result of male pattern baldness. Try using a different gel perhaps... clearly i don't know what style or anything you go for, but i like to use Creams or Putty/pastes as they tend not to rip my hair out as much, and create a thicker effect than gel.

check out this thread that was cranking a while back... the VO5 Reworkable Putty is the sh*t... dries fairly hard after 15 mins... ive been using it for nearly a year i reckon.
