The Dislike Button And What It Is For

I noticed some pretty bad forum practices arround here regarding dislikes and want to address them.
Let's start with what the dislike button is not for:

1. Indicating a disagreement with a well thought out position
2. Getting 'revenge' on another user
3. Voicing disappointment over the announcement of a canceled treatment (it's the hairloss industry after all)
   
   Its initial function is:
   1. marking troll posts
   2. punishing posts devoid of content ('haha')
   3. marking insults
