Been on minoxidil 5% and finasteride 1.25mg for the past 6 weeks and have been very conscious of the shedding each morning after showering or when applying the minoxidil. Washing off the 20+ thick, healthy looking hairs on my hands felt a bit defeating. I had recalled reading somewhere that shedding was a normal part of the process, but had almost been afraid to look, just as I had almost been afraid to even attempt any of the available treatments.

Oddly enough, now that I'm noticing my hairline still receding and my crown thinning I still feel generally confident and content. Just knowing that I'm trying to find a solution is enough for me. If it ends up all being for naught then at least I can say that I tried and hold onto the confidence and smile. But if I can keep my hair in the mix, all the better!

I hopped onto this forum to look for threads specific to shedding or my treatment course and ended up finding this sub-forum. What a relief to find that this is such a common issue in treatment to have its own space carved in.

After reading through a good number of these threads I feel much more confident with the treatment method and even booked an appointment with a hair loss specialist (as was recommended by a few posters) to get a professional opinion.

Thanks!
