Testosterone Spike with finasteride

Hiya,
Just checking in about something. when I first jumped my finasteride from .5 a day to 1mg a day, I suddenly experienced an increase in energy, libido, focus, better sleep and so on. I was like great! It was great, but unfortunately went back to normal after a week. No sides aside from that. I researched it and looks like finasteride does elevate your testosterone while inhibiting DHT, pretty sure this is why I got the 'kick' when I upped my dose. Just wish it would have stayed. Has anyone ever had that, and did it last or go away?

I know Avodart does the same thing, but wonder if the effects go away as well or worse drop the other direction. I know some men have the bad sides from finasteride/Avodart, but for the people that had the good, any input on the energy/libido thing?

I keep finding this study conclusion;

Results show that dutasteride treatment in men with BPH led to a significant increase in serum testosterone level and a significant decrease in BMI among those with relatively lower baseline serum testosterone levels.

The drop in BMI is interesting too. All this yet there is a scary sides profile for some men.

It's something like a 9% increase in T by taking Finasteride. Dutasteride is probably something like 13%. Pretty nominal

Why would you want more T? The side effects of more T is more hair loss since that is why your taking AAs to stop them. Doesnt make much sense to me why someone in a hair forum wants higher androgens.

I had the reverse effect of increased energy and libido when I upped my finasteride, it's of course documented men with lower T normally actually receive increases which was a benefit to me. Improves focus/libido/energy/sleep and stops hair loss? Yes I will take that. If you're in the minority category that finasteride/dutasteride actually help with T issues, why not. I know it's not the majority of men however.

Anyway, I know 5mg finasteride is roughly equal to .5mg dutasteride for the one receptor at least, thinking I might start to slowly increasing my finasteride to see what positive effects both hair and energy come from it. I don't expect a whole lot from more from higher doses of finasteride for hair, but there is an increase in DHT suppression. It's also the energy/libido thing I'm interested in. Double win if it works out.

First sign of sides though I back off. Things go well, get to a higher dose and and eventually switch to dutasteride. I believe in the very very gradual increase, allows the body time to adapt instead of shocking it. This has worked for me with finasteride so far.
