Testosterone replacement while on finasteride

Anyone done this or know anything about this? I have low testosterone from methadone. Im slowly weaning off methadone but must do it slowly. I have pelvic floor problems since starting finasteride . Low testosterone can cause my pelvic pain and i will quit methadone before i quit finasteride. I have zero sexual sides from finasteride and my hair responds very well to it. I must get rid of this pain though. I have a dr appointment today and urologist appointment the 22nd so im trying to learn everything i can before my appointment thanks- Anthony

Well my testosterone is up to 600! 1.5 months ago it was 176... Apparently me lowering my methadone dose is working. Ive also lowered my finasteride dose to about 5mg a week from 7 a week . Does finasteride lower testosterone? I always thought it only lowered dht

No takers on this one. Guess we don't wanna risk our precious hair! Haha well i guess i don't have to consider that anymore anyway, now that im up to 600. Sorry for a pointless thread

Propecia is a 5AR inhibitor. 5AR converts T into DHT. Because of that, you'll see high levels of T and low levels of DHT.

On average someone who starts finasteride will have 15% more testosterone and 15% more estradiol.

But that's the average. I bet the spread is very large.

Yeah thats what i always thought: finasteride blocks the conversion of testosterone to dht. Therefore more testosterone. So when after 6 weeks of finasteride my testosterone was 176 ! I was like what the hell??? But at about a lil less than 2 months later im at 600. So i can rule out low testosterone as the culprit of my stupid, annoying, and terrifying pelvic pain lol

they Wouldn't test it yet because i guess its expensive and they didn't think\know if my insurance would cover it. That also why again i don't have my dht levels... But after i go to the urologist if they cant find anything wrong they said they Would run a full hormone panal. Btw i got on diazepam (valium) last Tuesday 5mg in the morning 5mg at night and my pelvic pain is like 80% gone already and ive been dosing 1mg finasteride everyday! So im hoping with a lil luck this misery will just be a bad memory soon!

I just re read my post about my testosterone levels being so low after starting finasteride and now that its at 600 So fast, im wondering if finasteride was just a "shock" to my body and things just went a lil haywire and with my anxiety disorder add methadone to the mix and bam "side effects" Maybe my body is just adjusting

Sonicblu, it may have been substantial natural variations on your part. 600 is a slightly above average level, but 190 or whatever it was before is absurdly low. Maybe you weren't sleeping properly or something.

well im not totally sure my insurance pays it. I think my dr said about 300$ just for total male testosterone test and that its even more to get to get dht levels and more still for estrogen levels. My guess 500-700 dollars for one test thats includes all, from what she was saying. When my testosterone was 176 i was on 58mg of methadone daily. I was down to 41 mg of methadone daily when my second testosterone test was 600. Im now at 39mg of methadone daily and my pelvic pain is def getting better. Very odd this whole thing... Something is fishy here. I finally go to the urologist tomorrow after waiting 6 weeks for the appointment...
