I would say 0.1 % of guys that visit this place have T.E. If your losing hair its always more than likely male pattern baldness.

Every hair i lose has a white bulb...and i have male pattern baldness.

Its just the bit of skin that anchors around the hair on the scalp.

ok maybe its not the skin that anchors t ...lol..

but if your losing hair because of T.E you would have thin patchs all over your head...sides...back...everywhere.

Post some pics and the guys here will be able to let you know whats going on with your hair :)

Been loosing hair from sides and top and on sideburns eyebrow hairs seem to be falling out allot to. 3and half months ago had exams extreme stress took some tablets to help me keep awake for 2 days straight list my voice for the first time straight after started shaking like crazy and couldn't move me body muscle pain for a week or soon after hair texture suddnly changed and became fly away so I decided to shave my head. 3 months on massive shedding hairs around 5 cm long but all shed hairs were 1.5 cm or less. What do you think could be the problem

T.E looks like this....

telogen_effluvium_1_040626.jpg

When you have male pattern baldness you do lose some hairs from sides and back but not enough to really show....for example if i run my hands through the back of my head i will get hair in my hand...just not as much as if i did it in the front of my head.

The eyebrow thing is another thing male pattern baldness affects unfortunately. Usually with male pattern baldness alot of guys lose the outer third of the eyebrow..i myself have had thnning of the eyebrows.

If you do have male pattern baldness it doesnt mean you are going to go bald quickly or anytihng or maybe you will never lose it all but just lose some. For example i started losing my hair at 19 and im 25 now and still can hide it.(check my story)

Best way to get advice is to post pics of your hairline etc

Well no, eyebrows are not androgen dependent. Eyebrow loss, particularly the outer corners, is associated with thyroid issues.

Hmm it indeed doesn't look like Male Pattern Baldness. Are you sure you don't have anemia now? It looks like a loss due to some deficiences, or thyroid. You should do a blood test, iron levels in blood test, and thyroid hormones.

I doubt that. I see too many guys with agressive hairloss having thinning eyebrows too.

For a "girl", you seem to care a lot about MALE pattern baldness, don't you, "twenty.five"?

I actually do have a thyroid problem...was diagnosed under active last year. The eyebrow thing is definately a problem with male pattern baldness aswell though.

To jay.... unfortunately it looks like male pattern baldness. The thinning at the crown creeping down to the side of the head like in your picture is a classic first sign. i got that2.

you do not lose your eyebrows when you bald. Show me one medical fact on that. I have lost almost all my hair and eyebrows and have been to a couple of the best derms in the east coast and loss of eyebrow have nothing to do with head hair loss. Its immune response, thyroid, dermatitis, ect. I know almost everything about loosing eyebrows, beleive that.

Man I couldnt tell you my problems started after taking accutane over two years ago and its never stoped. I now shave my head with a #2 clipper all over. My hairline is receded nw3 with diffuse loss all over. I to have a slightly elevated thyroid but its under control. I have dead skin under my eyebrows and a red face so I think I have dermatitis also. Mines been slow and steady. The worst part for me is the intense itching all the time.

My hair is 5 cm long and all the hairs tht are shed are 2 cm or under is this normal.could this back up the fact that it may be Telogen Effluvium as hairs stop growing then shed after 2-3 months so therefre the rest of my hair grew and the Telogen Effluvium hairs didn't and that's why I'm shedding short hairs. there is ALOT of short 2cm hairs inbetween my long hair

Anything is possible. Ive was diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium from the accutane, then male pattern baldness, then thyroid. So its hard to tell. I have figured out the doctors just want your money, period. Most of the derms I went to were balding anyway. its like they dont give a sh*t. The worst part for me is loosing eyebrows. I was at one time loosing hair from the back and side of my head. Especially my sideburns. That has seem to slow down. all my hair is short now so I cant tell if the ones Ive lost are smaller. I know the diameter has changed dramitically. And the shafts of the lost hair are clear in color, the same with my eyebrows. My endo said this is classic thyroid however the other doctor said It was mbp, im 37 I just want my eyebrows

Re: Telogen effluvium(8 months shedding pics updated)

well ive been shedding for 8months did stop for two weeks but then started up again.Shedding has decreased from round 40-60 in the beggining to now around 8-15 however regrowth seems to be really slow when i part my hair i can see regrowth however its not alot. the thinnest part seems to be behind the middle of my hairline where girls normally have their part.
