What is Telogen Effluvium, can't find the meaning for this acronym.

also... can a dermatologist run tests to see if DHT is high??? how can you know for sure if it's something that happened.. like an illness (which i had pnemonia in july) or if it's truely male pattern baldness??

thanks.

Yes, it is possible for poor nutrition and sudden, rapid weight loss to trigger this. In addition, you can test for DHT levels.

In order to get to the bottom of your situation, you need to ask your dermatologist to order a full lab. This should include DHEA, DHEA-S, andro, test, DHT, &c., as well as stuff for thyroid (TSH, T3, and T4). Rapid weight loss could have been due to hyper active thyroid. This, in turn, can trigger hair loss.

I'm going to call my derm and schedule that ASAP.

oh BTW. I lost 20 lbs due to pnemonia, not because of dieting. wonder if that matters. I was bed ridden for 3 days. couldnt eat etc..
