hi everyone!
Firstly, there are no dermatologists within travelling distance that are hairliss specialists. I’ve been to see a non-specialist dermatologist and 2 endocrinologists.
I saw the derm Sept 17. The dermatologist hardly looked at me. She said I am suffering from Telogen Effluvium but couldn’t offer a reason for the trigger. That was 14 months ago and it’s gotten worse, not better.
I have had 3 previous bouts of Telogen Effluvium - one when I stopped the contraceptive pill after 7 years and then after I had my children. I can’t find a cause for the hair loss this time though.
It started suddenly in July 2017. Slowed but didn’t show any regrowth signs then started back up 3 months ago. As all of us know, it is so distressing. I don’t want to go out anymore and feel sick every time I look at my hair. I’ve always had very thick hair.
My mother had Alopecia Areata due to a very stressful period in her life. It grew back in. My older brother has Androgenetic Alopecia. No one else in my family has had hair loss issues (I have another 2 siblings).
Can anyone help me/provide insight? I’m at a loss as there are no Drs near than can help.
Thanks for listening!
