My saga began in college, receding hairline until my early 30's. Thin on top with a V forehead, lived with it as did not have the resources to do anything about it. I probably would have fallen for one of the Hair Mills and had a horror story on my hands!!!

The loss accelerated in my 30's and progressed to a NW5A so finally had a procedure with Dr. Distefano in Boston a year ago, 2140 grafts, great result minimal scar!!!

First time posting pics!! Here they are!!

Thanks for all the feedback!!

The healing process took about 5 days for most of the scabs to come off, swelling to go down and redness to subside.

It was not that painful, although the Tylenol 3 certainly helped. The donor and recipient areas were sore for a while as expected, no complications at all after the expected time of 2-3 weeks.

I will consider a follow up after a period of time, I am just glad not to be a NW5A anymore!!!!

I believe the procedure was around 4.25 per graft.

T-Man,
Looks like you received pretty good work by the Boston Surgeon although you are the perfect poster-boy for a large area transplant like that given your high contrast hair/scalp color, thick hair and plentiful donor area on the back of your head. Scars don't appear too bad either, although that is RARE I hear from other Dr's in the biz. I had STRIP surgery like you about 8 years ago but I have very fine and sparse hair in the back which was far from ideal in trying to cover the football field on my Norwood-6 top and frontal area.

Eventually after as many STRIP surgeries that I received, I ran out of viable donor area and have been waiting for the advent of FM. Well, it's here and offers excellent opportunity for more hair to a guy like me even with the extremely small donor area I had left. I will be posting photos on my forum soon. Nothing spectacular to look at vs your job, but I am working with almost -0- donor hair! If you need to do more touch up hair transplant in the future, strongly recommend FM and conserving donor hair with no further scarring and walkout the next day back to your job. That was a good post for all of us, hope mine is as good for everyone.

Hey TMAN,

Great pictures! I had a transplant of about 1800 grafts 4 months ago. So far, I haven't noticed any major change in my appearance. How long before you noticed a significant change?
