Someone please help me!!!!!!!! Well, I started loosing hair when I was 13 years old and now I am 17. I went to the doctor, was diagnosed for alopecia, and said noting can be done because I am too young. I have the female alopecia going on where my hairline remains intact, but I am costantly shedding, leaving a big blad patch on top of my head. Slowly the fragil hairs are deminishing. Anyone have advice?

Sorry to hear about your situation.. I'd go see a doctor before you do anything.

Oh I just noticed you said you went to the doctor, when did you go? I'm sure 17 should be old enough to look into some kind of treatment if you are losing that much hair. :? Do you have any pictures?

DAmn, 17 is a tough age for hairloss. Your doctor is not right though. Even though you are probably still too young for Finasteride you might use the topical Rogaine.

finasteride is an option, although if your hairloss is very agressive it might not do much, and you're still young, so u might risk affecting your development in further years. rogain (minoxidil) will do nothing for slowing hair loss.

Is there any proof finasteride can affect your development, at all? Has anyone here complained of anything like this?

if they advise you be 18 then I would definately wait until 18. Ask a QUALIFIED derm if such a person even exists on hairloss
