Tan the top of my head only?

Sorry I know this is a stupid question, but does anyone tan just the top of their head? I've never been to a tanning salon so I don't know if this is doable. I shave my head to a 2 guard (like my name=)) and I have diffuse thinning, very minor recession.

If not, just curious if anyone else out there tans to help mask it a bit. It doesn't look too bad when I shave it, but the top of my head looks slightly lighter then the sides. I was thinking maybe a nice tan would make it less noticable, especially when it grows out a bit.

When I use a bit of couvre it's perfect....but I"m sick of it wiping off, and having to carefully rub an itch. Plus I do martial arts which require rolling around on the ground with people. The couvre would definitely wipe off on the nice bright white gis.

I have actually thought about doing the same thing! The problem is that winter is coming in my part of the world and the sun won't be shining strong enough. If it was, I would wet my head (to show more of the scalp) and go outside for a long walk in the sun.

It would certainly be awkward trying to get a top of the head tan in a tanning bed. Years ago, I used to have a globe shaped tanning bulb that would fit into a regular light bulb socket. If I still had it, I would screw it into a drop light cord and hang it from the ceiling so I could sit underneath it.

I'm no expert on all of this hair loss business, but I can't imagine how a few extra ultra violet rays hitting the old bean would hurt. Of course you would want to be careful not to burn yourself or cause any more scalp irritation. Maybe some of the experts around here will chime in....

If you are losing your hair then yes, a tan would look ten times better than being as white as a sheet. It makes you look more healthy and glowing on the outside.
