Taking Propecia with Steroids - Not Working

I already posted my story here in summer last year. In late June, I added finasteride to my long-term (16 years long) minoxidil regimen, after my attempts to regrow some hair in temples with high percentage minoxidil turned into a disaster. The first results were exciting: During August, my hair virtually exploded and I was regrowing both thick and vellus hairs along my hairline. However, this episode ended very quickly, and during September/October, there was practically nothing to report.

But then, all of a sudden, in late October, I started to lose whole groups of hair along my hairline, including the newly regrown ones. Sometimes they disappeared virtually overnight. Soon it began to rape my hairline in the right temple that had been firm for 16 years, and it was really shocking for me. Within 3 weeks, the hairline was broken into pieces. During December, it stopped and curiously, during January, I got most of the hair back. But in the meantime, in late December, the hairloss started in my left temple. This time, it was far more aggressive and it affected an area of approximately 1.5x4 cm. In the middle of this, I already have a bald hole with almost no hair left. And there are no signs of regrowth. If the stuff worked, you would expect some decent regrowth, at least some velluses, but this is not the case. Well, I noticed probably five newly regrown hairs in the left temple during the last 3 months, and there may be a bit more hair in my right temple, but it s noteworthy that some groups of the hairs regrown during summer and lost in November still haven't regrown back. This is unexpected, if the stuff worked with the same strength.

After 3,5 months of this ordeal, I am completely exhausted already. I don't understand, what's going on. Note that minoxidil has ever worked perfectly in me, although I was taking steroids. And when I added finasteride, it is very unlikely that it would stop working. Even if finasteride didn't work on its own, it still would add some relief to the hair follicles.

However, I must add that finasteride doesn't work optimally in me. One laboratory tested my DHT at 25-32 ng/dl, another even twice 52 ng/dl, which is incredible. And I am already taking 1.25 mg finasteride/day for 7,5 months. I have always been a hyperandrogenic person (acne, seborrhea etc.), so if my baseline DHT values were close to 100 ng/dl, this would correspond with the usual drop by 50-70%. At the same time, due to the total exhaustion, my testosterone is low (below 300 ng/dl), so I certainly wouldn't say that my problems are caused by hyperandrogenicity.

Furthermore, I realized that the sudden hair regrowth in August may be due to SARMs that I was taking during that time. My testosterone was suppressed and DHT probably was as well. In other words, I think that finasteride actually doesn't work much. After my hormones returned back in September, it stopped producing any regrowth. But it doesn't explain, why it should destroy my hair. After 7,5 months, I really expected some regrowth, but instead, my life turned into a nightmare.

Several days ago I added 0.5 mg dutasteride that I plan to use every 4 days.

1) You aren't using Nizoral Shampoo like you're supposed to be. Treatments will not work properly without it.

2) You're taking anabolic-like steroids and blaming Finasteride for destroying your hair? I will be editing the title of this thread for accuracy.

I don't quite know how the OP can claim Finasteride is causing his problems - seems like there are too many possible variables in that story

LOL The last time I used steroids, it was in January last year!

And I use Nizoral twice weekly.

Have no doubt that I wouldn't forget this information.

I would like to know, if someone experienced an aggressive shed on finasteride even after 7,5 months. It is simply mindboggling and very frustrating for me. In April, I even increased my minoxidil dosage (by mixing 5%Kirkland minoxidil with DualGen-15) to achieve a 6% concentration. If the problem were in this unstable mixture, I would be losing hair on the whole scalp, not in the temple (like during a natural recession).

I simply don't believe that minoxidil would lose its efficiacy just after the addition of finasteride. The opposite should be true. Especially when the minoxidil percentage is higher than ever.

TO THE ADMINISTRATOR: Please, be so kind and return the orginal name of this thread. Something like "FINASTERIDE CAUSING HAIRLOSS AFTER 8 MONTHS - IS THIS NORMAL?"

It is beyond my imagination, where you deduced this stupidity.

Scroll up and read my reply to your first post. I will repeat since you apparently missed it:

Your original title was "FINASTERIDE IS DESTROYING MY HAIR". Factually inaccurate.

The content of your post revealed that you're taking anabolic-like steroids. Blatantly obvious cause of hair loss.

You're not even using Nizoral which is necessary for Finasteride to work.

Therefore your title was changed to be more accurate: You're taking Steroids and Propecia isn't working.

That's how I "deduced this stupidity".

Are you drunked or what? Did you read, what you had written? You are not completely normal, aren't you?

I stopped using steroids half a year before I started to use finasteride!

Sorry, your initial post was extremely complex. Try reading it again. I have difficulty making it through without losing track. And I missed your follow up post.

That being said, my focus was on the CAPITAL LETTERS AND *PROPECIA DESTROYED MY HAIR!!!* ..... of your original title.

As Quantum stated, there are a lot of variables involved in your story. I am sure if I could make heads or tails of what you wrote, I'd have some input. Right now the only thing coming to mind is to tell you that Propecia is very different from Minoxidil, and I shed for 11 months on Propecia before it did anything positive for my hair.

PS: no im not "drunked"
