Hi I;m abroad right now and I only have finasteride that expired in february 2020. Do you think it will still be effective. I've read studies saying that drugs are actually effective way beyond their expiry date.

Yes. 2 months is fine. It will still be at least 90% effective .
Ok thanks for reassuring me. I want to get on some fresh ones soon. I've been on finasteride since 2016... getting worried I'm going to start losing cos I've been taking these 2 months expired pills for just about 2 weeks. But I think they have to write an expiry date by law, I don't think studies have really been done on finsasteride specifically to prove it's loses all it's efficacy in just months after the expiry. I started taking finasteride when I was just starting to show signs of male pattern baldness around the temples, I wasn't certain I was losing my hair but at least I thought it was possible so I wouldn't know what to expect if I stopped taking them.

I have different pills from 2012, that are still effective so finasteride should still work

should keep the pills away from humidity cause then they get sticky and start to disintegrate

Dude , I work in a pharmaceutical company as a microbiologist and I’m aware of something we call “ stability studies >> short term and long term” and i assure u as long as this expired drug is kept under the recommended temp and moisture, it’ll be all effective for years “ as it’s in tables form” and could lose some of it’s effectiveness over years ! Today i took the last 1 mg finasteride capsule i got in my country :( and been digging for any expired ones ! But with no luck. From now on , i will have to cut the 5 mg tablet into 4 quarters..cheers!

You should be absolutely fine, i remember taking antibiotics that were like 4/5 years out of date for an abscess and they still worked fine. A couple of motnhs past expiration won't matter imo.

I got a fresh batch today. I'm actually in japan at the moment. I was only taking the expired finasteride for two weeks.... It does get humid in japan... but I was keeping them in my suitcase inside the blister pack so they were sealed air tight. Most of their life they were stored in a dry cabinet away from sunlight, where tempretures in the 10s-20s most of the time.

Bit paranoid that I might start losing hair now, but I'm going to go back on fresh finasteride immediately starting from tomorrow. I am also considering going on Dutatsteride once a week while still taking finasteride daily, I want to get professional advice on this.

My case is difficult to assess because I know I've had a natural widows peak before hitting puberty, but I definitely do have baby hairs around my hair line. So my hope is the dutasteride might help them grow back. Also I've read studies that finasteride stops working as well after 5 years, I've been on it for 4 now.

Yeah my logical brain says there should be no problem but my emotional side is panicking, it's different when your test subject. Really don;'t want to suffer any unnecessary loss because of a stupid mistake.

Well they are air tight in the blister pack, I'm in japan so it sometimes does get humid but there were in a dark suitcase until recently and most of their life they were stored in dry conditions.
