When was the last time you seen a commercial with a guy who had male pattern baldness? 99% of the time its always a thick head of black hair and it does have a psychological impact on society. Its a form of conditioning and just makes hair loss a little less attractive to woman.

Unless its a humorous commercial and sometimes the bald guy is the blunt of the joke. Such as the thin crust pizza commercial. If that isn't enough to make you wear a f*****g hat.

In the UK there's an advert for a double glazing company called Staybright or something like that. Anyway, it's got this really loud annoying bald bloke dressed as Robin Hood shouting at the viewer to buy some of their Windows!

Quite funny though!!

commercials go out of thier way to make bald guys seem goofy and incompetent. What's the commercial with the two thirty something guys with the white t-shirts and both are receding. That one guy is just made out to seem totally clueless and like a dunce with his goofy smirks.

I'd like to see a really attractive woman as the brunt of the joke and acting all goofy with the bald guy in control and totally confident. That'll never happen.

amen, society has a twisted view of bald men. As a matter of fact a great number of important figures in history had male pattern baldness but commercials will always post the bald guy as the dumb ***.

It's not only on commercials but on almost all TV shows except for shows that are targeted towards a male audience.

Although I would have to agree with you about allot of commercials showing guys with the thick, full hair, there does seem to be a trend that is starting to show more guys with receeding hairlines that are competent and agile. TV can only go so far beyond the cultural norm before it appears as rididulous. The fact is, there's allot of people who are challenged with thinning hair and receeding hairlines.

In the UK you'll find a variety of norwoods on our commercials - advertising executives appreciate what your average joe is like and market products more cleverly than they do in the U.S.

All of your adverts seem to be super cheesy with slimy models in them.

I agree. In the UK they do use bald men or men with less hair in adverts. Men with full heads of hair are made to look clueless and stupid. Skinny, bald and puny seems to be the order of the day in the UK.

My favorite old ads were the Colt 45 Malt Liquor ones that Billy Dee Williams did. They defined my image of what I wanted to be, as a man. They were the best ads ever.

Smooooth! Aaaaww, yeaaaah....

If you were too young to have seen them, or forgot, here is a reminder of the ad's content in the form of the "Billy Dee Williams smoooothness test". Keep trying the test until you get a perfect score, and you'll get the idea.

I don't know if any of you remember the Herbal Essences shampoo advert that was running a little while ago with a woman shouting "yes, yes, yes" in the shower Meg Ryan style? I think it was an American advert but was shown around the world. Anyway, there was a guy in the ad (the woman's boyfriend/husband) who was bald and he looked pretty cool. Obviously it wouldn't be any good using a bald guy in a men's shampoo advert!

The bald guy always ends up with something embarassing happening to him... like getting pied in the face.

That's right. Only K en and Barbie type people are allowed to live happy lives. The rest of us are unwanted and scorned by society.

You need to give up now, stop fighting it. The only women who will ever be attracted to you from here on out are the very overweight ones, so you might as well accept it and just learn to appreciate very heavy girls.
