switching to proscar

After taking propecia for 9 months I'd like to switch to proscar to save some money. People say that they quarter the pill so they're taking a 1.25 mg dose. So here's my question:
After almost 8 months on propecia I haven't experienced any side effects, and I would say that my hair is actually starting to move in a positive direction. If I switch from 1mg to a 1.25mg dose, is there a chance that I could experience some side effects that I didn't exprecience from 1mg? If there's a chance of this then I think I'll stick to the regular propecia.
Also, can your results be better/faster with a higher dose?

Apparently the higher your dosage the more likely you will get side effects, BUT just because its higher does not mean it will work better..

Anyway your main question was will 1.25MG make a difference? (Side effects wise) And thats a no, its not signifact enough to make a difference. However have you considered splitting the Proscar pill into 1/5 rather than 1/4? I split mines into 1/5, been on it for 6 days.. I believe Cassin does the same and its working good for him.

Zimmy I believe actually has a very good theory when it comes to Proscar (Credit here to you Zimmy!) He believes that when you split your Proscar pill, the dosage may be slightly varied each day but that actually might help you out in the long run because your body wont get used to the finasteride so quick.. Sounds logical to me, but remember its an opinion!

How exactly would you do that?

The pieces don't have to be exactly even, just use a pill cutter, or razor blade to cut them into 5ths.

Scroll down and click on the link which says:

It has a picture of how to cut them into 1/5 I use a razor blade, and it does NOT matter if they are uneven.

I store my Proscar tablets in a biotin bottle.. Not that anybody cares lol
