Hi guys.
I'm taking finasteride for 6 months now. I started with low dose for the first 2 months - 0,25mg ed and then 0.5mg eod. Before finasteride I was shedding maybe 100-120 hair a day. In the first 2 weeks I noticed my shedding decreased. During the shower I was losing maybe 10 hair. I increased the dose to 1mg ed because I didn't have any sides. After increasing the dose I started shedding more hair but less than prefin. In the middle of the fifth month I started shedding a lot. I'm losing 50+ hair when I wash my hair.
My hairline looks less dense and minaturized. Should I wait 3 more months or just switch to dutasteride. I don't have any side effects. I'm 21yo.

NW1.

U were NW1 already when started taking finasteride
in scenario 1 u caught male pattern baldness on its tracks and are preventing any further loss
in scenario 2 u have BDD and dont even need meds because u dont have male pattern baldness
in both scenarios u dont need to switch to dutasteride and possible sides from it

If u want a juvenille hairline for long as you can, u can switch to duta. But keep in mind u probably dont even need finasteride to begin with(by your photos).

Thanks for the replay. I think it's a early stage of male pattern baldness. My father is NW3, he is 50 now. He was NW2, no thinning in his late 20's early 30's. But my mother's father is NW1.5 and he is 76. I just want to prevent further loss as long as I can and then do a hair transplant.
I'll wait month or two and see what happens next and then eventually switch to dutasteride.

I guess thats the problem of all men who deny having hairloss or dont even notice before its too late. Its always easier to maintain than to regrow.

Denying hair loss when you are clearly balding is different than taking meds that can damage your hormonal profile and have sides when u dont need it.

95% of men develop mature hairline and some kind of temporal peak/recession. I dont think its correct from my point of view, advise a guy to take finasteride being NW1.

Its just a matter of common sense, its not like your taking a preventive measure that has no consequences at all. It can and it does.

Nonetheless, its his life, his hair and his consequences. By the end of the day he should know better if hes balding or not and what is best of his interest regarding his choices.

He asked for a honest opinion, i gave my honest opinion. And i do think nobody here should advise ppl who are NW1 and not showing clearly signs of balding to take meds, because alot of kids here dont know what they are doing or where they are steping into.
