Switching to 5mg tablets

I tried talking to my doctor about getting finasteride and he said he would look into the side effects. I told him that some people were getting the 5mg and splitting the tablets up and he just dismissed me right away and said "well yeah that's only for whatever" and he just kept talking and kinda rushed me out. I don't think I'll be able to start finasteride if I have to buy the 1mg, it'll cost $120 for the 6 month supply, but the 5mg would be $40 for the same amount. The 5mg has more in it and they are practically giving it away for free, even walmart has it dirt cheap.

I recommend looking up a dermatologist in your area and making an appointment if your Doctor wont prescribe it. I think Derms are more used to this sort of thing. Also nowadays, 1mg generic finasteride is very cheap. I get mine from Costco 90 day supply for around $23. Good Luck.

Really? Does Costco ship? I don't have one near me so I have to find something online I think.

Hmm not sure. Are you in NYC? Loads of costcos everywhere in the US. It would be worth taking a small road trip for the price savings. No one is really competing with them on price.

Not in the city currently, it would be about a 2 hour long drive to get to one so I'm not even sure it'd be worth the savings, online it's like $23 for a month supply

does your doctor tell you what quantity you have to buy them in, or once you get the script can you freely buy as many as you want?

Maybe you can get your entire year worth of finasteride from costco in one drive, ask them to fill all of the refills. The entire year should be about $100. That's worth a 2 hour drive.
