What's the best treatment if you're just getting a bald spot in the back? My hair has thickened throughout my head, and I haven't had any recession at all since starting finasteride...but it seems I'm getting a bald spot in the back that has gotten worse over time. I remember hearding that finasteride was excellent for this type of male pattern baldness. Is this true?

It certainly is supposed to be, but my crown has never filled or thickened. It has mostly maintained for the last 5 years or so but is now beginning to thin a little further.

Start applying Rogaine foam to your crown. Should get good results.:)

Would using Nizoral perhaps help? The other question I had regarding Rogaine is this:

If I use Rogaine and experice regrowth in that area and then stop Rogaine but continue finasteride, would the finasteride help me keep the hair Rogaine gave me? Or would I then lose the Rogaine hair once I quite Rogaine?

No, the results you get from Rogaine only work with its continued use.

However, Rogaine will probably give you great results if you're just starting to thin on the crown. It's a hassle, but the foam is worth it, IMO.

Nizoral won't regrow that much, but it can help.
