Hey guys, from what I've read It seems like alot of you excersize and workout alot so I thought this might be a interesting topic.
Im in swimming during the winter and i notice my hair is at its worst during this time, even with special shampoos.
So yea i have a few questions if any of you know have answers..

Does Clorine (spelling?) in any way relate to hairloss?

Are swimcaps bad for your general scalp health? (cutting of circulation and such)

And, do any of you know of any quality anti-clorine shampoos?

Unless you pour concentrated acid on your scalp, nothing will screw up your hair. Your cap can't change your DNA so you're going to lose hair when it decides you do, not when you wear a cap.

Well seeing as chlorine is used as a germicide i would say it is safe for your hair.Although hydrochloric acid doesnt really sound all to good.

Given the much stronger H2O2 (hydrogen perioxide) is used in most hair dyes, and it is safe for your hair, I'd think the much milder irritating/bleaching concentration of chorine is safe for your hair. Heck, your eyes get exposed to pool water chlorine, and if they can tolerate it, your hair ought to.

One of the "products" that the hair club gives you with it's EHT line, is a chlorine filter. According to HCM (take them with alot of salt) chlorine is very harmful to your hair.

even before i started losing hair i always heard chlorine from swimming pools is bad for your hair, not sure about the follicles though. just as long as youre not swimming every single day in a really high chlorine level pool you should be fine. make sure you use conditioner after you swim though.

Chlorine is not good for the hair, fact, but it will not cause hairloss alone. Mostly what happens to hair of regular swimmers or water polo players is a slow lightening effect on the hair colour over time.

I took my nephew swimming a few days ago and got my hair wet in the pool, afterwards it was horrible to style, flat and lifeless.

Yea i swim in a extremely clorinated pool everyday, usually for two hours. It has so much clorine because my school lets local kids swim there after our practices, and you know how much they like to get up and pee in a bathroom..
My chemistry teacher also told my that clorine was extremely bad for your hair but the amount in pools was "negligable"
Dont use clorine to clean our water supply or am i confusing that with something else?
