Im 20, have thick hair, large volume of hair and a lowish hairline (at least atm). But 5 days ago I suddenly started losing about 20 hairs in shower. Today it was much more, approx 50 hairs in shower... so obviously Im panicking a bit right now and thought I'd make an account here and ask the experts. I wanna know what's the first thing I should do? Incase it's balding I wanna act fast and give myself best possible chance to not let it go on, assuming it's temporary.

Just some info on the situation, in my father and mothers side no one has started balding before 35-40. I usually didn't lose this much hair in shower in the past (if ever). I have a really itchy scalp at the moment don't remember if I just got it now or was like this for a while. Think I have a bit of dandruff too. Have really oily dark straight hair. I eat alot of protein, which helps hair grow quick, until now anyway, the intention is to put on some weight. Don't know if that has much to do with it. Have taken this diet for 3 years now.

So yeah am I overthinking this or could it be MBP? Is it demodex causing hairloss? I have alot to learn about hairloss and how to act. Should I go see my doctor or something? Or maybe dermatologist?

Thanks.

IDK see a derm and see if they diagnose it as male pattern baldness. If it is male pattern baldness than you will want to start finasteride 1mg or 1.25mg daily. Could be male pattern baldness and probably is

Yeah like the guy above said, see a doctor and if it is male pattern baldness u could start with something easier like a topical DHT blocker like spironolactone cream (S5 cream), Azelaic acid and Nizoral/Ketoconazole shampoo along with Minoxidil 5%.. There is no need to jump on hardcore meds if ur hairloss is in the beggining and not very aggressive.. Fina can have serious side effects so u may wanna start with something easier with a lot less sides like the products i quoted above and if u can maintain your hair with that alone then theres no need to take finasteride, at least not yet..

no you will want to to start finasteride not the other stuff the guy above me said. Search topical spironolactone 1 year results or topical spironolactone results on google you wont find single success with it that is because it is weak garbage. Do the same with finasteride and you will find more success stories than you can count. Treatments for hair loss are inadequate and finasteride is one of the only things that works and the least risky, and it is very safe
