Stupid request - I can’t use cotton balls!

So yea I have this really weird dislike of the feel and sound of cotton balls. I equate it to someone who gets that chill in their body when nails run across a chalkboard.

Has anyone used cotton rounds to get the dissolved tape out of lace? I’ve attached a picture from online to show what I mean. I ask because although they are both cotton I’m wondering if there is enough nap in the cotton round to create the “ball” that can be rolled off.

It's not weird I don't like the feel of them either and just the thought of pulling them apart gives me a really uneasy feeling...ok it is weird but you're not alone.

You can use strong kitchen towel as well. Or an old cloth.
Don't use toilet paper is it shreds easy and goes to mush.

I never use cotton wool balls either - I tried them, but they just disintegrate when cleaning glue off lace and just stick to the lace. I've found that cotton wool pads are better - they last longer than cotton wool balls before they disintegrate, thus giving a better clean.

Or talcum powder or corn starch. Anything to soak up the stickiness and add bulk.
