Stopping Propecia? 1 - year shedding

Hi,

I am 26 years old, nearly NW3a.

My horrible shedding started a year ago, I started taking minoxidil for 6 months (no results, horrible itching) and I take Propecia 1mg since June 2014 - no results, crazy shedding, I have sebum overproduction so I have to wash my hair everyday - I lose everyday at least 70 hairs in shower - it's completely crazy.

I think that the reason why Propecia doesn't work might be the fact that I have higher sex drive than before taking this sh..t and I think I have hormonal imbalance so I have excess DHT on scalp...I have a lot of sebum on my scalp everyday so I wash it with Nizoral 2% every second day and with mild shampoo the other day.

Is there any chance for me to stop this crazy shedding? I would accept my hairloss if it wouldn't be so horribly fast. I can see from week to week that my hairline is worse and my hair is thinner.

To sum up:
- sebum overproduction,
- Nizoral 2% every second day
- Propecia 1mg everyday since June 2014 - no results
- higher sex drive
- lot of anxiety caused my hairloss
- excessive sweating

It's a nightmare for 26 years old guy like me. I am even afraid of wind because it lifts my hair off my head (it looks very bad) and exposes how severe my baldness is. I can't live my life anymore.

I am going to do some blood tests (testosterone and others) this week, maybe I should have done it a year ago, now is a bit late already.

What should I do in my case?

I thought about stopping Propecia - I didn't take it for a few day and I see more hair in a plughole.

Should I try dutasteride?
I think that finasteride destroys my body hormones so dutasteride will makes it even worse, right?

I would stay on finasteride.

Stay on it, some people don't see results for 2 years. As long as you have no major sides then stick with it.

dutasteride is considered to be more potent than finasteride and is prescribed when finasteride brings no results. Have you consulted any specialist in this regard?
I would not switch from finasteride to dutasteride without medical consultation.
It is also important to reduce the sebum overproduction.

I had a similar problem at the one year mark on finasteride. Crazy sex drive, scalp pain, oily hair.

Im still on hoping for a turnaround. A lot of people said switch to dutasteride so maybe both of us would get better results on it.

To the guy above, I thought there was a study where finasteride and dutasteride was shown to have no effect on sebum production?

I didn't mean that sebum overproduction should be treated with finasteride or dutasteride. I mean that it should be treated anyway as it can in some way affect hair growth. I know there are different studies that show that sebum does not cause hair loss, other prove that sebum clogges the follicles thus interfering with hair growth. I don't exclude this possibility and suggest Kamill to consult a dermatologist in this regard. Moreover, sebum overproduction, requires everyday hair washing that can also have a negative impact on hair health.

dermatologists know nothing when it comes to hair loss
