Stopping Minoxidil- what to expect?

I'm hoping someone can help me with some advice based on their own experience coming off minoxidil.

I was using Minoxidil 5%(Rogaine) for about 8 months. I kept a pretty close eye on the effect it was having. It appeared to me that my hairline was continuing to slowly recede and the number of hairs falling out remained pretty constant. minoxidil was the only treatment I used over the eight months. Anyway, I stopped using it about 3 months ago (because I didn't think it was effective) which has led to a noticeable increase in the rate of receding and thinning at the front. What I am trying to figure out is whether what I've lost since stopping the treatment brings me to where I would have been had I had never used minoxidil, or whether after this initial shed which took me below that baseline, there will be a rebound with a certain amount of hair growing back in that area. I'd like to hold off re-starting minoxidil if there's a chance for some regrowth, but if that's not gonna happen then I will start using it again, and obviously the sooner the better.

So, I'd really like to hear from anyone who has stopped minoxidil 5%, had a shed, then regained at least some of what they lost. And this would only be people who had been using minoxidil by itself, and just as importantly, used nothing else after stopping minoxidil.

What should I do? Get back on the treadmill, or stay on the wagon?

Cheers, John

Apparently, when you quit, you will shed the hair you would have shed have you not used minoxidil at all, AND THEN SOME; but the "extra"- shed will grow back eventually (a matter of months) and after 6 months or so you will be where you were have you never used minoxidil at all.
