STOPPING minoxidil MINOXIDIL - Shedded hairs grow back?

Im a diffuse thinner.

I used Minoxidil for few months all over my head, grew some hair, thickened some hair.

Due to bad toleration I stopped.

Waiting for the shedding train to arrive.. that son of a b**ch is never late :)

Mannnn did I shed, and still shedding. I stopped Minoxidil about 2.5-3 months ago.

I also started Revivogen about 1.5 months ago. So basically stopped minoxidil cold, started revivogen about 1-1.5 months later.

How long does it take for minoxidil shedded hairs to grow back? Im talking the healthier hairs that minoxidil sent flying off my scalp?

They will grow back right? Im talking about the 50% that minoxidil thickened.. not so much grew

I was under the impression that you needed to keep on minoxidil to maintain your hairs.

That ain't what I'm talking about..

In 1999 Dr. Vera Price did an outstanding study of topical minoxidil in which she examined some issues which, to the best of my knowledge, had never been looked at before. One of those issues was exactly what happens when you STOP using it! :) Everybody knows that you'll lose any hair you had gained if you do that, but Dr. Price had the foresight to test it in a more systematic way, to determine the rate at which you lose it. Here, take a close look at this pair of graphs which were included in her study:

http://www.geocities.com/bryan50001/quitting-minoxidil.htm

As you can see from the graphs, there was an immediate and precipitous decline in both haircounts and hairweights upon cessation of topical minoxidil, but then they bottomed-out after a while, and began to rebound. After six months, they were virtually back to normal ("normal" meaning the same as the placebo users and the no-treatment group). So it does take a while, but eventually things will get back to where they would have been, had you never used the minoxidil at all.

Thanks Bryan.

So 6 months ey. Son of a b**ch.

In your opinion Bryan, if I use a topical anti-androgen like Revivogen.. if something like that would normally work for me and I used it during those 6 months, is it pointless? Or will the effects still build within that 6 months.

So basically.. Do i have to wait the 6 month for the "rebound" for any treatment to be effective.. or will I get a double whamie if I use a treatment that works, so not also does it bounce back, but bounces back more and thicker?

hair growth works in cycles & thats the b*tch about it. & it takes several cycles for things to work- each cycle is 3months or so.

Ummm....if I'm understanding your questions correctly, I'd have to say that I don't see any reason why the beneficial effect of a second treatment that you started using AFTER stopping topical minoxidil wouldn't help mitigate those harmful effects. I would imagine that the good effects would be superimposed on top of the bad effects. Is that what you mean?

Pretty much. I just don't want to have wasted the 6 months applying Revivogen for no reason. I want to kno that I will reap the rewards of using it even though I'm waiting for it to bounce back from stopping minoxidil.

Also, if the receptor sites are in the follicle as well as 5aR.. when the follicle sheds.. wtf is it ur feeding exactly when using receptor blockers etc etc?

Hi,
I stopped foam after 1+years of use because i did not see results, and it has been 3 months now since i stopped. I feel my hair is shedding more. So if I went back on foam, will it start the shredding proccess all over again???

Or if I stay off of it, will it shed less and start to regrow? I am confused as I tried to understand those charts..

No one really stopped foam, and then began it again?
