Stop finasteride?

So I've been taking 1.25mg of finasteride daily since September 4,2012. Within the first week I experience the typical dull testicular pain and haven't had a morning erection since about the 3rd day on it. As far as libido, I haven't seen any decrease or increase. I still can get/maintain a normal erection yet sometimes it may take a little longer when I'm alone.

So I'm opening it up to the experienced finasteride users, should I stay on it, or am I destined to experience some major side effects? I am totally on the fence at this point. I'm a little over a month into treatment and of course concerned. I'm trying to make the decision as early as possible, I don't want to keep going for 6+ months then quit and possibly lose my hair quicker after quitting.

Thanks in advance

i say stick with it. i had some minor sides for a month or so after starting finasteride, they all left. personally i'd give it til the end of the year and see how you feel then.

good luck!

Testicular pain is actually a noted side effect on the product package insert, but it is transient and always goes away. This is probably the reason it is a post-marketing side effect and not something discovered during FDA trails.

To the OP: stick with it. Testicular pain will go away. Morning and spontaneous erections may become less frequent and stay that way, but they serve no useful purpose. If your libido is fine and you can obtain a satisfactory erection when it is needed, you have nothing to worry about.
