Children with alopecia areata, a condition that causes extensive, sometimes complete hair loss, grew hair after being injected with stem cells drawn from their own scalp in a small study.

Most of the five girls and three boys who had widespread baldness showed regrowth of as much as half of their hair in a preliminary study from Marwa Fawzi, a dermatologist at the University of Cairo Faculty of Medicine. Before the experimental treatment, some of the children had splotches of hair and baldness; others were almost totally bald.

If the treatment works, she plans to look into its usefulness for androgenic alopecia, better known as male pattern baldness.

I hope she follows through with the plans for those with male pattern baldness.

the real bad news is that i could bet anything she wouldn't, the problem is despite the fact they found it safe enough to do to some kids the medical bodies will not allow it unless it goes through 3 trials and 7 years, even if this gets approved and proven completely safe for Alopecia areata it would still have to go through a complete retrial for male pattern baldness
the problem is medical bodies have a giant fetish for red tape
i mean look at finasteride, it was approved in 5 mg pills for BPH in 1992 and then in 1mg pills for male pattern baldness in 1997, IT TOOK THEM 5 YEARS TO LOWER A DOSAGE!!!
for a body that takes 5 years to lower a doseage it would take them ages longer for them to instruct the surgeon to only clone the hair that have no androgen receptors
