I recently posted about how I took finasteride for a year and at the year mark, I lost insane amounts of hair with pain in my scalp,etc.. Well, I was going to get a transplant but have been thinking that I may not be a good candidate because I'm still steadily shedding about 20 hairs in the shower everyday for the past 6 months.. My hair got thinner and I don't have regrowth at all..

Can anyone tell me whether I should quit finasteride or if this is normal? It's been 1yr and 6 months now..

I would try dutasteride first. Sounds like you are a non responder to finasteride.

Pain? I would give it another three months. Dont expect any regrowth from finasteride or dutasteride. Its all about maintaining.

I shed easily more than that every day in the midst of period of regrowth, and still do. Shedding doesn't matter, only miniaturization

Thanks for the replys. Unfortunately, I have minaturization on my hair line now. Really sucks. And I would try dutasteride, but it's like 200+ for a month supply and I really can't afford that right now. I've never had this type of pain before and i like can't even think in school anymore because it's constantly nagging at me. I'm at a serious loss. Has this ever happened to anyone and then dutasteride worked? I've read that some people get this and then switch to dutasteride and get even worse. Ughhhhh
