Starting treatments without a doctor visit?

Hi guys, this is my first post so bear with me!

I am 20 years old and I've started seeing signs of balding on vertex, I have been using Nizoral for two months now and I can't really tell that big of a difference. Keratene and minoxidil have really caught my interest, are there any risks when starting with this combo at a young age? Did you guys go to a doctor to investigate the cause of your hairloss/measuring dht levels?

I am quite positive that I am suffering from male pattern baldness, on my mother's side there's a lot of bald men such as my grandfather and his three brothers. However on my father has a full set of hair as well as my grandfather.

So basically my qustion is if it could "harm" me in any way to start with a DHT lowering treatment? (even if I would use Keratene instead of finasteride)

Thanks!!

I never heard of keratene, but I doubt it is anywhere near as effective as Propecia.

I would say go to the doctor and get it done right. Just make an appointment, asks for a prescription and they will give you a script. They really aren't going to test you for DHT levels or investigate the causes.

Hundreds of people done it before with your doctor, so don't be embarrassed about it.
